It seems like it was just a few days ago that we found out that we were going to Israel, and here it is only a few days out! We did find out some of the places that we will be going and also that we should have no problem updating our blog and Facebook page with pictures while we are in Israel.
We are staying in an inn (there is room for us!) while in Jerusalem. The amazing thing about it is that it was once a seminary for Christians in Jerusalem! It is still decorated with many of the things that adorned the halls when it was in use! It is not a luxury hotel...walls are stone, floors are hard, and the meals may not be the 5 Star type, but it opens up right onto the streets of the Old City! I can hardly imagine that I will get to walk where Jesus and His disciples once walked! To look up at the Sky at night and get a glimpse at the same sky that they saw!
We did find out that we are taking a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee! I told Christi...I hope that we don't have to listen to someone talk while on the boat, I just want to read the stories...Jesus, walking on the water...the miraculous catch of fish...calling of the disciples! It will be in those waters that our Lord did these things!
We will spend time in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Capernaum, and we will even spend time on the hill where the Sermon on the Mt. was given! I can't wait to be there and share my pictures and stories with you.
Please be praying for our travel. These "polar vortexes" that keep bringing this wild weather into the states is a problem. We are flying out of Chicago into Istanbul and our connection time to our plane to Israel is short. That means that delays are not our friends. Also, lift up our safety, and our witness while we are there. We know that the Lord has opened this door for us, and we want to make the most of it!
On a way less spiritual note. We were told that lunches would often be light and fast. When we asked for an example of what that meant, Christi's uncle told us probably shish kabobs! My wife was very happy...meat and veggies on a stick! What could be better!
